The School Day

    A warm welcome every morning.

    ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL 8:20am
Children may come into Pre-Prep from 8:20am (wrap-around care and breakfast is available from 8.00am - see below) and staff will be in their classrooms ready to welcome them. We do request that parents refrain from taking children into class before 8.20am, as this is valuable preparation time for the staff. The school day officially begins at 8.30am. All children are expected to be in School by this time for registration.
    ASSEMBLY TIME 8:45am

On Mondays and Fridays, the children join the Prep School for assembly in the Singleton Hall where the focus can involve stories, news items, drama, music or sport.

On Wednesdays there is a Pre-Prep Assembly in our own hall and each week certificates are awarded to individuals for effort, attainment or just being a good, caring member of our School.

We also celebrate birthdays during this assembly time. Children may bring in birthday cakes to share with their class, but please ensure that the products do not contain nuts. In order to safeguard children with specific food allergies, such celebratory foods will be individually wrapped for those children to eat at home. On Tuesdays, the children have a class or year group PSHE session, and on Thursday there is a singing practice assembly.

    BREAK TIME 10:40am - 11:00am

During the morning break children are well supervised by the teaching staff. We encourage children to play games which promote friendship and allow for individual needs to be respected.

A drink of water and a biscuit are provided by school but should you wish to, you may send in a piece of fruit in a named pot. School can provide milk and fruit for a small charge. (See parent portal for costings).

N.B. Children are not allowed to bring in sweets or non-fruit or vegetable snacks from home at any time, unless there is a specific dietary need.

    LUNCH TIME 12:40pm - 1:40pm

At lunch, children sit together in peer groups and are served by the teachers.

High priority is given to the development of good table manners. There is a salad bar provision. If your child requires any special dietary provision, please let us have the information in writing and we will make every effort to cater for their needs.

After lunch children have an outdoor play time which is supervised by the teaching staff.

    THE END OF DAY 3:30pm

    Afternoon classes finish at 3:30pm.

Children are dismissed by staff from their respective classrooms. A child will only be allowed to go with someone other than their parent, if the teacher has been notified in writing beforehand, stating the name of the 'collector' and who they are. Children who are not collected directly after school go into optional after school care – ‘Late Stay’.

    LATE STAY 3:30pm - 6:00pm

This is held within the Pre-Prep and supervised by the teaching staff. Children are registered and have a drink and a biscuit.

This facility is optional and for the convenience of parents, particularly those who have older children in the Preparatory School. Children can be collected at any time between 3:30pm and 6:00pm.

Should you wish, your child can be provided with a ‘high tea’ at 4:30pm or can stay to join the boarders for their evening meal at 6:00pm. (See parent portal for costings) and please book this at the start of the day.

    WRAP AROUND CARE 8:00am - 8:20am | after 6:30pm

    In the morning

Your child may be dropped off at the School Reception in the Prep School at 8.00am and they will be brought to the Pre-Prep at 8.20am. Breakfast can be booked if needed. Reception aged children may also go to the Nursery for breakfast should you wish.

    In the evening

Should you need wrap-around care in the evenings children can go to the Boarding House after their meal and wait there to be collected.
