Dean Close has announced its plans for the leadership of St John’s on-the-Hill School next year. Ruth Frett becomes Head, with overall responsibility for the leadership of St John’s. David Griffiths, Deputy Head Academic, will head up the academic leadership, the scholarship programme and senior school entries. Jason Dobbie, Deputy Head Pastoral, will continue responsibility for pastoral leadership and will have responsibility for day-to-day systems and procedures.

They will be supported by June Ruddy as Head of Pre-Prep and Ria Barr as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the School. Other senior members of staff will include Lynne Summerfield as Head of Learning Support, and Andy Downie and Ria Barr as Academic Leaders.

David Griffiths, current acting headmaster, said: “We are a closely-knit team, with each of us having different personalities, experiences and strengths, but with a shared excitement, energy and focus as we move into the year 2016-17.

We are united by the desire to ensure that each and every one of our pupils and staff strives to be the best that they can be in the classroom, on the sports field, and in music and the arts. We are a school where dreams are made, nurtured and encouraged, and every child’s potential is realised.”

St John’s, with the support of the Board of Trustees of the Dean Close Foundation, will continue to develop and improve. There have been significant improvements since July 2015 with extensive building work, new initiatives and support staff provision strengthened. Further investments are planned in the course of the next twelve months in both pastoral and academic areas.
