St John’s on-the-Hill’s School Choir got the grand finale of the Wye Valley River Festival off to a brilliant start with an eclectic mix of songs.
The Choir, made up of children from Years 4, 5 and 6, sang a selection of songs, including Naughty from Matilda, a gospel medley, Count on Me and Working Nine to Five. They were led by music teacher and conductor, Lucy Marshall, and pianist Alex White, who played the keyboard.
Lucy Marshall said: “It was great to be part of the River Festival which brought together so many amazing musicians, poets, artists and environmentalists to celebrate our unique river landscapes, which have inspired people for generations. Our children put in a huge effort and sang beautifully.”
St John’s Choir was followed by performances from the Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir, Lydbrook Band and the Festival Choir, before the grand finale of fireworks.
