Santa surprised the children and the groundsmen at St John’s on-the-Hill School when he arrived at the Christmas Fayre on Tuesday 13 December in a brand new utility vehicle – The Gator – a present for the school’s gardeners.
Every year Santa finds an exciting way to visit the school (last year he appeared on the roof and abseiled down the side of the school building). This year it was rumoured he would arrive by helicopter but due to adverse weather he made his entrance in the two-seater Gator.
Ruth Frett, Head, St John’s on-the-Hill, said: “Our children worked so hard to make their Christmas Fayre a success and Santa’s arrival was the icing on the cake – the new Gator, named Ali, will make work so much easier for our groundsmen and I think our handyman, Terry, was more excited than the children.”
Santa also had gifts for the children and gave out presents from his grotto at the Christmas fayre. To raise money for the school, the children ran stalls ranging from hair colour spraying, to lucky dips and chocolate fountains.
