St John’s on-the-Hill School raised £365 for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice at its Wye House Roald Dahl Charity Day on Friday 13 September.
The children came to school dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl characters. The pupils wowed with their own versions of Mr Fox, Willy Wonka, the BFG, Matilda, the Twits, witches, Oompa-Loompas, and more. Some pupils opted for a simple yellow t-shirt or yellow accessory, showing support for Roald Dahl’s favourite colour and the school’s Wye House colour. The teachers also got into the spirit of the day with Roald Dahl inspired outfits.
There was a cake sale at break time and lots of games including an interactive food fight with the Twits, guess the weight of Bruce’s chocolate cake and find the golden tickets under chocolate bars. During English the children took part in Roald Dahl themed lessons and enjoyed the opportunity to read the beloved author’s books.
