Some of our younger equestrian squad riders from DCP and SJOH, Maddie Melville Smith, Gabriel Mattlè and Agnes Bathurst once again formed a formidable Foundation equestrian squad and headed up to contest the NSEA Plate Championship Finals in the Show Jumping 75cms and 85cms. The Tracks were full up to height and asked a lot of questions from both rider and pony. The team put in a great performance to take team 5th in the 75cms out of the 22 schools who contested the finals.
The team then went on to compete in a very competitive 85cms. 32 schools came forward for this Plate Championship Final and the track was as big as some of our young riders have ever jumped. They once again put in great rounds just rolling a couple of poles to see them finish overall 12th; a brilliant result for these young riders.
The Championships gave some of the young riders exposure to their first overnight championship show with lots of lessons to take away and learn from. It also saw new friendships grow as the team worked together and supported one another throughout the whole weekend. We now look to the South West Grass Roots finals with great enthusiasm.
