St John’s on-the-Hill Preparatory School is a co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 7 – 13.
The school is set in beautiful enclosed grounds overlooking the picturesque River Wye, in Chepstow. With 180 pupils, the school is small enough to allow everyone to know one another and get fully involved in school life.
St John’s offers superb co-educational schooling with very small classes. It has an outstanding reputation for academic achievement, sport and drama. With impressive results the majority of pupils are awarded scholarships to senior schools when they leave St John’s.
The PSB (Pre Senior Baccalaureate) helps us to assess the whole child and share that information with senior schools. Not only do pupils show their academic ability but also skills such as independence, communication and leadership. There is also an opportunity to show pupils’ sporting, musical and artistic abilities too: with great links with the best senior schools, our pupils are in demand.
St John’s provides a wonderful spectrum of extra-curricular activities and children have ample opportunity to develop responsibility, independence and leadership skills. Alongside their education, children are taught to respect themselves and each other, giving them morals and principles that secure St John’s in their hearts for life.
The word ‘community’ is often used by schools, but in St John’s case it has real meaning. Come and visit us and experience first-hand our family orientated school which is full of fun and happiness. Our talented staff genuinely want the best for the children and work tirelessly to achieve it.
